Those seeking to establish relationships with minority-owned businesses
can make use of the marketing and promotion capabilities of certified minority
business enterprises (MBEs), as defined by the National Minority Supplier
Development Council. Companies hoping to connect with buyers in the private
sector can have NMSDC certification
benefits because it is the highest standard for supplier diversity in
private procurement. NMSDC's 23 regional affiliate councils receive 80 percent
of the national membership dues. The NMSDC database is a great starting point
for searching for contracts in the private sector. By highlighting a business's
NMSDC certification consistently in all marketing materials and press releases,
a business will have a better chance of attracting firms seeking minority
suppliers.
